FIMM appoints Nazaruddin Othman as its new CEO

The Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nazaruddin Othman as its Chief Executive Officer, effective 2 February 2015.

Nazaruddin holds a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) from the International Islamic University and a Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from Cardiff University, Wales, UK. Prior to joining FIMM, he was the Chief Executive Officer of BIMB Investment Management Berhad (BIMB Invest) since September 2011. He began his career with Price Waterhouse Kuala Lumpur as an auditor, before joining the Securities Commission (SC) in 1997. In the SC, he was responsible in reviewing the proposals related to establishment of new collective investment schemes including unit trust funds and real estate investment trusts, developing the guidelines and monitoring compliance by unit trust management companies.
FIMM was established in 1993 to develop the unit trust industry and promote unit trusts as the preferred vehicle for investment and wealth management. On 20 January 2011, FIMM was recognised as a Self Regulatory Organisation (“SRO”) by the SC via a gazette order. As an SRO, FIMM plays a role as a public interest body in preserving market integrity whilst striving to protect the interests and rights of the investors.
